Born from 37 years of research at IIT Delhi, Gram Urja Mission is Prof. Virendra Kumar Vijay's life vision to transform India's 6 lakh villages from passive consumers of imported fossil fuels into active producers of clean energy, organic wealth, and dignified livelihoods.

Gram Urja Mission is not a biogas scheme. It is a whole-village energy transformation— an integrated system delivering electricity, clean cooking gas, and productive energy to every household simultaneously. Built on IIT Delhi's patented CBG technology combined with solar, wind, and micro-hydro — starting with 300 energy clusters across 75 UP districts, scaling to 50,000 village clusters across India.

Prof. Virendra Kumar Vijay developed India's first automated biogas purification and bottling system (patented 2006), drove the BIS standard IS:16087 (2013) for biomethane quality, contributed technical foundations to the SATAT scheme (2018), and coined the term "CBG" used in all government policy. His biogas-powered car covered 1,40,000+ km — the data becoming the basis for India's national biomethane standard.
प्रो. विजय ने भारत की पहली स्वचालित बायोगैस शुद्धिकरण और बॉटलिंग प्रणाली विकसित की (पेटेंट 2006), BIS मानक IS:16087 (2013) बनाया, SATAT योजना (2018) की तकनीकी नींव रखी, और "CBG" शब्द गढ़ा जो अब सभी सरकारी नीतियों में प्रयुक्त होता है।
As National Coordinator of Unnat Bharat Abhiyan (4,600+ institutes, 22,000+ villages) and MNRE BDTC Coordinator covering UP, he holds the unique combination of technical authority, institutional infrastructure, and field deployment capability.
